In the Limelight with Academy student Lauren Mullins

01 Sep 2013

Treading the boards, Academy student Lauren Mullins proves that her skills aren’t just on the salon floor through her involvement with The Rainbow Factory. The Rainbow Factory School of Performing Arts is an exciting performing arts project established in Northern Ireland and encourages individuals between 10-25 years to become involved in dramatic productions, both on-stage and in roles such as producer and choreographer. NVQ Hairdressing student Lauren Mullins has been involved with the group from a young age and focuses on contemporary and commercial dance. During her time with the group Lauren has been involved in musicals and plays in the Grand Opera House as well as the Kaleidoscope Festival 2011. Lauren also showed off her skills by assisting with the choreography of a flash mob, which was performed outside Belfast City Hall.

As well as rehearsals and performances Lauren also volunteers at the group's Gig Night every Friday night. Pictured left, Lauren Mullin is also taking her hairdressing skills to her productions, styling fellow performers before joining them on stage.

Perhaps one day Lauren will be working backstage at major worldwide productions, combining her love for hairdressing and the dramatic arts. Watch this space...
